The Conspiracy of Hope concerts (and later the Human Rights Now! concerts) were advertised through Bill Fertik's Public Service Announcements which he wrote, produced and directed. Celebrities involved in these broadcasts were: John Huston, Meryl Streep, Sam Waterston, Carly Simon, Robin Williams, Pat Benatar, Marlo Thomas, Tyne Daly, Jamie Lee Curtis, Glenn Close, Michael York, Marsha Mason, Richard Dreyfus, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ron Silver, Robert DeNiro, Richard Beltzer and Elliot Gould.

These concerts in six cities made Amnesty International a household name, raised $3 million, and brought in 45,000 new members within a month. MTV and Fox both ran the last show internationally (and was produced by Bill Graham).
